Because we were never meant to do it alone
Our Why
Why? Why did we start this and why do we keep doing it?
Earth to Birth is more than just a pregnancy group, it is a message to the world about centring mothers, families, and the earth in our communities and societies at large.
More than just a belief system, Dani and Oni live this message in their work and daily lives. Even before becoming mothers themselves, they endeavoured to create change in how humans can come together for more harmony in earth based living spaces, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and family life.
We work building, maintaining, and evolving Earth to Birth to improve the wellbeing of mothers who are birthing the next generation. We are inspiring new friendships to protect mothers and families from postpartum isolation. We are providing networks of support and education so mothers and parents can make the most informed decisions for their pregnancies, births, and postpartum journeys. We teach gardening, growing and earth based skills so that mothers and families feel confident being resourceful in their own backyards, bolstering food security, respect for regenerating seeds and soil, and creating ideas for community collaborations.
More broadly, we show others in communities far and wide what connection and action can look like with these principles activated and hope they are inspired to start their own. Have a look at our founding principles below.
Our Mission & Philosophy
Our Principles
●
Community Care
Through our regular pregnancy and postpartum circles and facilitated online conversations, we carefully nurture our communities to feel connected and supported. In this way, we inspire confidence for mothers and families to create their own systems of community and community care beyond our direct support.
●
Earth Care
We consciously encourage people to make ecological choices in their everyday lives and parenting decisions. We create confidence for our participants to foster earth-based relationships through gardening and environmental consciousness. More broadly, we elevate facilitators who hold values around earth-based care.
●
Resource Sharing
Our creation of community pathways allow self generating ways of resource sharing in both earth and birth related decision making, planning, and implementation. This happens through in-depth discussions around models of healthcare, village style problem solving and gardening resources sharing such as seed saving and garden food swapping.
●
Family Resilience
In changing and challenging societal times, we hold resilience as a cornerstone for thriving families and sustainable living. We encourage the creation of secure food systems and strong networking to withstand the pressures of the cost of living and in the aftermath of dramatic weather events.
